Overview
The National Institute of Informatics (NII) established the Research and Development Center for Large Language Models (LLMC) on April 1, 2024, under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) initiative “R&D Hub Aimed at Ensuring Transparency and Reliability of Generative AI Models.”. LLMC promotes research and development on building generative AI that combines technological advancement with transparency and reliability, with a particular focus on open large language models (LLMs) that excel in Japanese.
This symposium will showcase the latest research and development activities at LLMC and feature keynote lectures by distinguished experts from abroad, offering an international perspective. The poster session will present ongoing research projects by LLMC members and also invite contributions from external researchers. The Breakout sessions will foster interaction with corporate researchers working on LLM development and provide opportunities for lively discussions with students interested in LLM research. In addition, a technical consultation booth staffed by LLMC researchers will facilitate one-on-one exchanges on practical challenges and potential applications.
Through these activities, the symposium aims to promote multifaceted discussions on the future directions of LLMs.
